AIS Educators Dedicate Book to Library

School Counselor Kip Jones and Art Teacher, David Grant wanted to help our students remain calm and positive during this time of unknowns.  “We had been wanting to team up together on a project for a long time and the opportunity finally arose with the pandemic.” Grant said. The two friends completed their Children’s book Let Your Eyes Smile, Corona Style! within a matter of a couple of weeks.  “Yes, I went to David and asked him if he would illustrate a story I wrote about dealing with the unknown our students would be facing as they transition back to school,” said Jones, who already has a National Award-winning book series with Willie Bohanon and Friends.  The veteran Art Teacher and illustrator went to work and finished the characters Jones had envisioned.  “David’s so talented, Jones added.  “I tell him all the time he needs to make a portfolio of his work and send it to publishers.”  Grant expressed they may just be getting started.  “I think it will be the first of many more to come!”

The two recently had a book signing at the school library as they dedicated their creation so the students could enjoy it. “Twenty years from now, students will check this book out and see what we all experienced during this crazy year of 2020!”
