Profile

Since 2005, I have had the privilege of teaching kindergarten through third grade at both AES and AIS. In 2022, I began serving as AIS's Foundational Reading Interventionist, where I support students in developing essential literacy skills, including phonics, phonological awareness, fluency, reading comprehension, and vocabulary. I primarily work with small groups to provide targeted instruction that meets students' individual reading needs.

Teaching children to read has always been my passion. Throughout my career, I have dedicated myself to learning the most effective, research-based practices for literacy instruction, including extensive study of the Orton-Gillingham approach to phonics and decoding. I have completed multiple professional development trainings through Wilson Reading Systems and LETRS, which continue to strengthen my instruction. I am excited to work with your students and share my love of reading while helping them build the skills and confidence to become successful readers.

A little about me: I grew up in Marietta, Georgia, and moved to the area in 2002 to attend Maryville College. After graduating, I fell in love with East Tennessee and decided to make it my home. Outside of school, I enjoy hiking, camping, rock climbing, paddle boarding, working out, cheering on my two kids at their soccer and football games, playing yard games, and relaxing with a cup of coffee on my porch. I am grateful to have started my teaching career in Alcoa and feel fortunate to continue serving this wonderful community.
