Profile

Hi!

My name Trent Gilmore and I am a product of Alcoa City Schools, class of 1981. In 2003, I came home to teach music at the middle school and at the high school.

After graduating high school, I attended Maryville College, earning a bachelor of music degree in Vocal Performance with a minor in Piano Performance, graduating in the spring of 1985. Later, I returned to Maryville to complete the requirements for teacher licensure. My decision to attend Maryville College was partly because my mother attended school there. She was a member of the “Maryville Six,” the 6 African American students who bravely reintegrated Maryville College in the fall of 1954.

Since 2003, I have been a Choral Director/Music Teacher for Alcoa City Schools. During this time, I rejuvenated and reorganized the choral departments at the middle school and high school. As of 2024, I am serving as the Music Teacher and Choral Director at Alcoa Intermediate School. In music class and chorus, we will focus on the following: melody/harmony/part singing, tone production, intonation, rhythm, musicality, solfege/sight singing, music history, and various musical styles.
